 Shiki Japanese Restaurant Reviews

Me and my wife are crazy about Japanese food, and we are crazy about this restaurant!!! You are not going to find better service ... lower prices ... more delicious sushi ... anywhere! We can't wait to go back!

The eel california roll is amazing!!! Two of the best things in the universe, all wrapped into one wonderful bundle of seaweed and rice and goodness. OMG.

Also, what's super amazing about this restaurant is that they allow you to do takeout. Japanese takeout! I can't believe how rare this concept is. I have never, ever found Japanese takeout before, anywhere, ever, in my whole life, until now. So then you'd think, "well it probably isn't that good if you can get it as takeout." But it seriously is. It's good enough I'd happily eat in if I had the time/money, but I'm a busy student and I have to go home and study!

I still think this is a little more expensive than it should be for what you get? But I'm not really used to Long Island yet. Everything here is more expensive. I can kind of see why ... you do get "the best of both worlds" living on LI. Not to rant about Long Island, but on to the restaurant. The sushi is very fresh (probably fresh caught here, I'm assuming), and it's tasty, but I'd prefer larger portions. A wider selection would be nice too. I will keep coming here, but I'm also still searching for my perfect sushi restaurant.

Whoever thought of Japanese takeout deserves an award for ingenuity. Chinese takeout is everywhere, but Japanese takeout? Nonexistent until now. At least everywhere I've lived. I was so deprived! How awesome is it to be able to go and pick up sushi and bring it home to enjoy? My whole family loves Shiki Japanese Restaurant. It's the top request from my kids when I'm on my way home from work and I go to pick up food.

This restaurant is something of an anomaly as far as I know. It's the only Japanese takeout place I have ever been to in my life. I have had better Japanese food, but it's quite decent. The prices are pretty good too. I like the rolls best. My number one choice is usually the Eel California roll. It's among the pricier items, but it saves me from having to choose between the California and Unagi rolls (always a struggle every time I go out for Japanese food).

I might add that while I usually get takeout, you can eat in here too, and it's a really nice place. It's sometimes busy though, so you may want to call ahead and place a reservation.

My wife is a Japanese foodie and she loves her sushi meals. A day out for us in NYC means a trip to a Japanese Restaurant. It does not matter to her that I hate Japanese food, and she asks me to have salad if I hate the veal sushi and Kamados rice. However, Shiki Restaurant offers an Americanized version of Japanese food and that’s why I love them. My wife loves the slightly different food and I’m more than happy about being able to have American food in a Japanese way – as long as they are clean and efficient, it does not matter to me!

Is my rambling making sense? I hope so! Since I still hate Japanese food, and this is a sushi restaurant, I’ll give it 4 stars – otherwise this is perfect!

I love Japanese food. At Shiki Japanese Restaurant there are plenty of dishes that can satisfy even the most sophisticated palates. The waiters and staff are always helpful and happy to serve. The quality of the ingredients used seems to be high and fine and the prices are quite reasonable, I have to say. It is one my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood and I go there every now and then.

Searching for Japanese food in Long Island is a pain in the neck. However, with the new Shiki Japanese Restaurant in the borough, I know where to head if I want good quality sushi at affordable prices.

The ambience is great and they have Japanese relics to decorate the settings even more. The waiters are also Japanese who know the components of every dish and would be happy to coach you on eating right with forks too.

My family loves Shiki and we celebrate birthdays here every year. As a Japanese cuisine aficionado in Long Island, I know how difficult it is to have good sushi food here, and I always make it a point to thank them for a great service before I leave.
