At first I was happy with my storage space. The fees seemed reasonable at $55 per month plus a $10 insurance cost, and I wasn't going to argue with it. Then of course I moved away, and found myself in the trap where they started raising my rates annually. So not cool. "We do this in response to rising market prices." Yeah right. If that were true, it wouldn't be every year, the same day, year after year, now would it? No, they just do it because they know they can get away with it and that since you are far away, there is utterly nothing you can do to stop them until you can get your stuff out again ... years later.

I have found forums online where storage space operators talk about their rates, and there are landlords of storage units out there that actually advise others to raise their rates every year, saying that is why they went into the biz to begin with - to gouge people, and that if you aren't gouging people, you're missing out on the main opportunity that running a storage unit presents. So this stuff is deliberate, premeditated, and obviously has nothing to do with anything but pure greed.

Terrible.

So why three stars and not fewer? Sadly, I have never found a storage place that does NOT do this to its customers. So I guess that makes Extra Space average .... Erica A from Elmont, NY on Jul 17, 2012
Extra Storage capacity is a great place to stow things you possibly would need later! As a household de-clutter aficionado, I insist on using their clean and efficient storage service to benefit from less clutter at home. Extra Space Storage took care of all of my needs. They were professional and courteous and offered the storage unit that I needed. I was impressed by the spacious and clean storage units that they offered, as well as the low prices. Should I require storage in the future this will be the first company to get my call. I'm a little bit of a packrat, and I hate throwing things away, and because of such, I often run out of space in my closets, attic, and garage. So I went out and got myself an Extra Space Storage unit. Now, it's full of the extra stuff instead of my house. Share Your Review
