Summer Arts Festival's Popular "It's Showtime" Family Nights Begin Tuesday June 26 with Cinderella

SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL'S POPULAR ITS SHOWTIME FAMILY NIGHTS 
BEGIN TUESDAY, JUNE 26 WITH CINDERELLA

Huntington, NY (June 21, 2012) – The Summer Arts Festival, in its 47th year of bringing top performing arts talent to Huntington, will kick off its popular It's Showtime Family Nights on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.  Presented by the Town of Huntington and produced by the Huntington Arts Council, the festival offers a high-caliber musical performance journey.  All Family Night performances are free and held on the Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park, Huntington, at 7:30 p.m. 

Tuesday, June 26 – Cinderella – Plaza Theatrical Productions All the ingredients that have made this story a perennial favorite are here, including a zany Fairy Godmother, a trip to the Royal Ball and a glass slipper.  Cinderella continues to delight audiences everywhere.

Tuesday, July 3 – Monkey Monkey Music – Meredith LeVande Get ready to "Jump High," play "Air Guitar," "Shake it Loud" and let your inner moneys out.  This show will get both little ones and adults moving and dancing with an interactive show so engaging that you will be singing the tunes long after the show is over!

Tuesday, July 10 – “Coyote’s Dance” – Treehouse Shakers Coyote's Dance envelops the culture and story of Coyote, whose exploits are recounted among many of the North American Indian nations.  Coyote is both clown and teacher; and leads audiences on a humorous journey of deceit and adventure.  Coyote's Dance is performed in native-influenced costumes, headdresses and a lovely mixture of movement styles from various Indian nations.  The dance play expresses the remarkable vitality of the cultures to which these stories belong.

Tuesday, July 17 – “The Lion’s Whiskers” Catskill Puppet Theatre This delightful adaptation of a traditional Ethiopian folktale features a charming cast of human characters and favorite African animals.  Follow the adventures of Minya who finds the courage to pluck three whiskers from a live Lion, and learns the secret to gaining the love of her new family.  The show features a multitude of masks and puppets ranging from three quarter life-sized to gigantic and is highlighted with shadow puppetry and original songs.

Tuesday, July 24 – “Peter & The Wolf” – Pushcart Players A thrilling adaptation of the traditional Russian folktale set to music by Sergei Prokofiev. While providing a charming introduction to the world of music and musical instruments, this enchanting tale is all about the adventure of growing up. Danger becomes reality and creative innovation becomes essential as young Peter meets the challenge of survival in the outside world.

Tuesday, July 31 – “Pinkalicious” Broadhollow Theater Pinkalicious loves pink and wants everything in her life to be pink.  Follow her through this musical romp based on the famous children's book.

Tuesday, August 7 – Tim & The Space CadetsTim & The Space Cadets cordially invite you to "The Greatest Party Ever!"as It’s Family Showtime Series concludes for the season!  Inspired by memories of school days, snow days, pizza parties, and summer vacations and chock full of witty, fun, and heartwarming pop tunes, rockers, and lullabies.  It's time to put on your party hat! And don't forget your kids!
