Summer Arts Festival's July 3 - 8 Schedule Features More MUST SEE Performance

SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL'S JULY 3 – 8   SCHEDULE FEATURES MORE MUST SEE PEFORMANCES!

Huntington, NY (June 25, 2012) – The Summer Arts Festival, in its 47th year of bringing top performing arts talent to Huntington continues with more must see performances from July3 through 8, 2012.  Presented by the Town of Huntington and produced by the Huntington Arts Council, the festival offers a high caliber musical journey that is indicative of today's global music scene that extends beyond borders.  All performances are free and held on the Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park, Huntington, at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday Family Nights at 7:30 p.m. 

Tuesday, July 3 – Monkey Monkey Music – Meredith LeVand Get ready to “Jump High,” play “Air Guitar,” “Shake it Loud” and let your inner monkeys out. This show will get both little ones and adults moving and dancing with an interactive show so engaging that you will be singing the tunes long after the show is over.

Wednesday, July 4 - "A Salute To America Featuring Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue” Join Musical Director Tom Gellert and the Huntington Community Band for a VERY SPECIAL 4th of July concert featuring George Gershwin's “Rhapsody In Blue” with guest piano soloist, Christine Doré. Also on the program will be many audience favorites and some special surprise guests to help Huntington ring in the 4th of July holiday. Come early and enjoy some wonderfully stirring music under the stars!

Thursday, July 5 – Bethany & Rufus Roots Quartet - Bethany Yarrow & Rufus Cappadocia presents an evening of American roots, Haitian Rhythms and African Desert blues. Drawing from diverse roots music traditions of America, Africa and the Caribbean, the Bethany & Rufus Roots Quartet, featuring master percussionist & oud player Brahim Fribgane (Morocco) and Haitian Percussionist 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste, come together to create an unexpected tapestry, weaving the desert winds of Africa with Vodou traditions of the new world and the folk music of America.This event is part of the NYS Presenters Network Presenter-Artist Partnership with support from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.

Friday, July 6 – BETTY is the original pop rock band fronted by Alyson Palmer and sisters Elizabeth and Amy Ziff. The band's defiant attitude and signature sound of tight harmonies, fun melodies and clever lyrics layered over strong grooves make their devoted cult grow steadily larger. Based in New York City, BETTY performs wild, memorable and boundary-pushing live shows all over the world. They will perform tunes featured on hit television series like Weeds, NBC’s Love Bites, Ugly Betty, The L Word and more.

Saturday, July 7 – “The Producers” – Plaza Theatrical Production Outrageous and hilarious, audiences will be on their sides with laughter as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom sing and dance their way through the greatest show biz scam that there ever was! Winner of 12 Tony Awards, this will be the hit of the season!

Sunday, July 8 – Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra Under the direction of Maestro Lou Panacciulli, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra will perform your musical favorites from Broadway, television and the movies.  Rely on the Nassau Pops to present a great program of popular and light classical music.
