School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. Hosts 3rd Annual Fred Breithut Memorial Golf Outing

New York State Senator Owen Johnson Named as This Year’s Honoree

Kings Park, NY — School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) is announcing that The 3rd Annual Fred Breithut Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, September 20 at the Wind Watch Golf & Country Club, 1715 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. The golf outing is being named in honor of Fred Breithut, Founder and Chairman, SBPLI, who passed away on April 26, 2010.

Registration and brunch will take place between noon and 1:15 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Following golf will be a reception starting at 6:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 7:00 p.m. This year’s honoree will be New York State Senator Owen Johnson, Honorary Board Member, SBPLI, and a strong supporter of SBPLI and its robotics programs.

Senator Johnson was first elected to the Senate in 1972. He has chaired several committees, including Transportation, Environmental Conservation, Social Services, and Civil Service and Pensions. From 2003 to 2008, he chaired the Finance Committee where he had a lead role in reviewing the Governor’s proposed budget and developing the Senate Majority Conference’s priorities for the State Budget.

In 2011, Senator Johnson was appointed Senior Assistant Majority Leader. He is also Vice Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation’s largest individual membership organization of state legislators. In 1995, he was the first recipient of ALEC’s “Lifetime Leadership Award,” which was created to recognize those members who helped shape the organization.

Tickets are $250 per golfer and $900 per foursome which includes a round of golf, golf carts, brunch and dinner. Tickets are $100 each for dinner only (no golf).

In the event of inclement weather, please call the club at (631) 232-9850 extension 1. If the course is unplayable, golfers will receive a voucher to play at the course for another day. The reception and dinner will go on as planned.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds will be used to help support the costs associated with SBPLI’s programs: Junior FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League (Jr. FLL), FLL Qualifying and Championship Tournaments and Long Island FIRST Robotics Competition, all of which cost more than $250,000 to host. These robotics programs help students grades K-12 develop an interest in science, engineering and technology and learn about teamwork, problem solving and gracious professionalism. If you are interested in being a sponsor, email: SBPLIgolf@scc-cm.com.

Registration deadline is September 13. Checks may be made payable to SBPLI, Inc. Please send your check and registration form to: SBPLI, Inc., c/o School Construction Consultants, Inc., 190 Motor Parkway, Suite 201, Hauppauge, NY 11788. To register online, visitwww.SBPLIgolf.com.
