HUNTINGTON ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES JEN CHAPIN AND SALVATORE VALENTINETTI AS HOSTS FOR GOT TALENT? LONG ISLAND
Huntington, NY (March 5, 2012) The Huntington Arts Council is proud to present the 4th Annual Got Talent? Long Island. Long Island is known as one of the primary talent feeders for Manhattan productions and Got Talent? Long Island showcases 20 outstanding Finalists in this epic talent contest.
Jen Chapin takes the reins as co-host along with Salvatore Valentinetti. A dynamic pairing, Chapin & Valentinetti together embody the diversity and talent that Long Island is known for.
Praised as “…soulfully poetic urban folk music”, Jen Chapin’s unique blend of funky folk and earthy jazz has earned her kudos from NPR, People Magazine, The Today Show, Jazz Times, among many other major media outlets. She has appeared on “Late Night With Conan O’ Brien,” has been honored by the USA Songwriting Competition, appeared on stage with Bruce Springsteen and opened for the likes of the Bruce Hornsby and the Neville Brothers.
Chapin’s role as activist, educator and mother hold equal importance to her musical accomplishments. Her life-long involvement in WHY, an organization that supports innovative, community-based solutions to hunger and poverty continues to have an urgent relevancy to today’s headlines. She is the daughter of singer-songwriter Harry Chapin and his wife, Sandra Chapin.
Salvatore Valentinetti croons like he is channeling Frank Sinatra. He is a two-time Audience Choice award winner at Got Talent? Long Island and is the first former contestant to become co-host for this event. His romance with jazz and classical music began at his grandma's knee at age 3. He began playing the baritone horn at age 8 and plays with the advanced and jazz bands of Holy Trinity HS. Sal's goal is to bring back the notoriety of the 'Top Forty' genre. Valentinetti has had the privilege to sing at Long Island Duck’s games, is frequently a star in the Trinity High School musicals and is a star performer in the upcoming “Guys and Dolls.”
Got Talent? Long Island is an evening of pure entertainment as Long Island's most talented aspiring artists take the stage in front of a panel of celebrity judges on March 30, 2012 at Dix Hills Performing Arts Center, Five Towns College. The show will begin promptly at 7:30 pm.
The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, an opening performance at the 47th Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival, a $2,000 scholarship to Five Towns College, Head Shots. Len Marks Photography, an interview on Donna Drake's show called "Live It Up!" and a walk on role courtesy of Donna McKenna Casting, and gift packages from E1 Entertainment and D’Addario Music.
Other awards include the Audience Choice Award and Rising Star Awards.
