Ocean State Job Lot North Babylon, NY grand opening details

John Mitty Tuesday, April 9, 2013

NORTH BABYLON, N.Y.  (April 9, 2013):  Ocean State Job Lot, a leading closeout retailer based in Rhode Island with stores in New England and New York, will celebrate the grand opening of its 109th store at 1480 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon, N.Y. on Saturday, April 13, 2013.  This marks the first Ocean State Job Lot store on Long Island, and the return of three of Long Island’s sons.

Brothers Alan and Marc Perlman, and Steve Aronow, Ocean State Job Lot’s three principal owners, are natives of Long Island having grown up in East Meadow and Roslyn.  “We’re looking forward to serving the Greater Babylon community,” states Alan Perlman.  “If there’s one place that can truly appreciate our unique brand of value and everyday low prices, it’s Long Island.  We’re very happy to be coming home.”

The new Ocean State Job Lot store occupies the former Island Recreational Pool Supply building located in the Deer Park Commons Plaza.  Newly appointed Store Manager Glenn Forbes, a Smithtown, N.Y. resident, oversees the 35,000 sq. ft. facility with 40 local associates in full- and part-time sales, operations and customer service positions.  “It’s always exciting to open a new store but this store is special since it’s our first on Long Island,” states Mr. Forbes, who has over 33 years of retail experience.  “Being a native Long Islander myself, I’m very glad to be a part of Ocean State Job Lot’s expansion to the area.”

While the store opened for business on March 29th, a special Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, April 13th.  Festivities include appearances by the WBLI Street Team and Cinderella from Broadhollow’s Bayway Arts Center; giveaways and displays from local area organizations; brand-name product samples; refreshments; and special drawings to win a $200 shopping spree and fishing gear giveaway.  The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with local dignitaries is scheduled for 12:00 noon.  In keeping with Job Lot’s community-first approach to business, two special donations to local organizations will be made, courtesy of Ocean State Job Lot’s Charitable Foundation:  a tractor trailer load of nutritious, shelf-stable food to Long Island Cares, Inc. (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and the sponsorship of Honor Flight Long Island (Southampton, N.Y.) which will fly Long Island-based WWII veterans to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Store hours in North Babylon, N.Y. are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
