Nick's Tuscan Grill and Grillfire Restaurants Casualties of Hurricane Sandy; Closed

One of the biggest casualties of the Hurricane Sandy on Long Island, besides the thousands of homes which were destroyed, was restaurants. Several great Long Island restaurants have succumbed to the ravages of the wind, the surf, and the rain from the Oct. superstorm. Now, we can add two more Long Beach resturants to that list. Both Nick's Tuscan Grill and Grillfire are going to be closed for the foreseeable future because of damage caused by the storm.

Both of these restaurants are a part of the George Martin Restaurant Group and are big parts of the community. I can say that I will definitely miss the veal marsala with pasta and the fried calamari appetizers. I have spent many a night savoring these dishes by myself and special nights with friends.

If there is any good news from this is that the Rockville Centre George Martin Restaurants, the Grillfire and Merrick, are both going to be operating as normal. At least I don't have to miss out on the great atmosphere of these places.

It is sad to see Nick's and Grillfire of Long Beach both closing. However, there is an air of optimism, and perhaps excitement, as to wondering who will be taking over the buildings and what they will do with them.
