Making An Impression Printmaking Show announces Best in Show and Honorable Mention

MAKING AN IMPRESSION: A JURIED PRINTMAKING SHOW

ANNOUNCES BEST IN SHOW AND HONORABLE MENTION

HUNTINGTON, NY  (July 31, 2012)  -- “Making An Impression” features the work of sixteen artists at the Main Street Petite Gallery, August 3 – September 10, 2012.  After requests for a print show from the membership, the Exhibition Committee chose to dedicate the gallery for “Making an Impression” to feature the mediums of printmaking.  Joseph Stelmach was invited to Jury this show by the Exhibition Committee of the Huntington Arts Council.  The opening reception is August 3, 2012 from 6-8pm at the Main Street Petite Gallery, 213 Main Street, Huntington, New York.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Best in Show awards were given to two artists, Grace Jara for her etching Pear and Carolyn Sheehan for her collograph plate Clock.

Honorable Mention awards were given to two artists, Madeline D’Aversa for her woodcut reduction print Looking for Figs,and Emily Harrison-Ach for her screen print Row of Trees

Printmaking mediums to be featured are copperplate, woodcut, engraving, etching, solar plate and more.  Stelmach includes in the show details about techniques utilized to make the images.  Artist selected to be in the show are:   Monika Camillucci, James Daarcy, Madeline D'Aversa, Rasma Kupers, Elizabeth Ehrlichman, Emily Harrison-Ach, Grace Jara, Lisa Morales, Eileen Palmer, Evelyn Ramos, Angela M. Rogan, Carolyn Sheehan, Sean P. Stoll, von Schmidt, Marie Winn, and Leonora Wolfeld.

Joseph Stelmach has a Fine Arts degree from the University of Dayton with graduate work in print making at the School of the Dayton Art institute andSilvermine College.  As a graphic artist and Creative Director at RCA records and BMG classical music he received awards from the New York Art Directors Club, the Society of Illustrators and two Grammys.  His work has been represented in the New England Print Makers Show.

The Huntington Arts Council Exhibition Committee is lead by chair Tonito Valderrama, with Susan Miller, Marie Sheehy-Walker, Lisa Arden, Bruce Cohen and Florence L. Dallari.  “Making An Impression” is sponsored in part by the County of Suffolk, New York State Council on the Arts, Town of Huntington and J. De Sena & Associates.
