Long Island Businesses Offer Free Cleaning Service to Seniors Affected by Sandy

Cynthia Marie Tuesday, November 13, 2012

After two long weeks of having to cope with the damage to homes and property, many people are feeling the weight of the clean up and how hard it is to get things back to normal. Thankfully many Long Island businesses are not going to sit by any longer while the elderly in our communities fight to try and clean up the debris.

One of these businesses is Suffolk County's own Tara's Personal Cleaning. The Long Island company is now offering customers an opportunity to get cleaned up after the devastation of hurricane Sandy. The offer will be extended to two clients a day until Thanksgiving 2012. Tara's is not the only business that is trying to help as many banks are working with customers for speeding up loans, but they are helping is a very practical way.

Tara's has a stake in the community as they are a part of the everday life of Long Island. And seeing the devastation is just too much for them to handle. Especially when they see the elderly struggling so hard. The company is concerned about the residents of Long Island after seeing the wide spread damage that the storm caused and wants to take this opportunity to give back to the community that has made the company so successful in 2012.

Tara Tyler, Chief Executive Officer of Tara’s Personal Cleaning said, “We’ve reached out to so many websites and organizations but they all seem to be in New Jersey, or no one returns my messages. I just can’t sit back and watch these folks struggle through this alone. Some of our neighboring towns have been without power for two weeks now. I’ve seen houses with all of the furniture out at the curb. We went through Bay Shore last week and some of the homes were still pumping water out of the basements. It’s time somebody steps up to the plate and helps these people clean up their homes.”

Tara's wants to help and are asking those who need help to send information to taraspersonalcleaning@gmail.com

They are asking for people to send a few paragraphs as to why they should be chosen for the free cleaning help. There are also a few regulations:

Respondants must be 65 or older, have significant damage to their home, live in Nassau or Suffolk County, and have a substantial need for their service.
