Governor Cuomo Invites Tourism with “Path Through History”

Summer is tourism season in Long Island, and one of the most important times of year for the local economy.  Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday announced his “Path Through History” program.  The program encourages visitors and locals to explore important historical sites throughout New York State.  For lovers of history, transportation, and nature, New York offers numerous gems to explore.

The path through history includes a number of locations on Long Island, including the 200 hundred year old Montauk Point Lighthouse, which is still in use today, the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum, and the Long Island Maritime Museum. Long Island has also played an important role in the development of road and air transportation.  Other museums recommended on the Long Island leg of the Path Through History include the Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages in Stony Brook and Garden City’s Cradle of Aviation Museum.  If you would like to look at the full Path Through History, you can visit the official website for the project, http://paththroughhistory.ny.gov/.  There you will be able to view all sites on Long Island, as well as other fun and educational destinations in Central New York, the Finger Lakes, Greater Niagara, the Hudson Valley, the Adirondacks, the Catskills, and more.
