Melville, NY – Two Good Shepherd Hospice nurses, Marlene Hill, RN, BSN and Pat Mocko, RN, were recently presented with the Catholic Health Services (CHS) Living the Mission Award for exemplifying the CHS mission values of respect, justice, integrity and excellence. Ms. Hill, a Farmingdale resident, and Ms. Mocko, a resident of Setauket, were nominated by their colleagues for their outstanding qualities and were chosen from among many nominees.
“Marlene Hill lives the mission--always collaborates and will do her own pronouncements even if she is not on call. She is always respectful to the patients and families. I feel very blessed to work with her due to her outstanding presence to all and her work ethic which is kept to a very high standard.
Two community members nominated Ms. Mocko’s for her outstanding care of their family member, a patient on the hospice program. On the nomination card of one was written, “Pat made this difficult experience so much easier. Pat cared for mom with such gentleness and grace and accommodated our large family with much compassion and friendship. We are so very grateful.”
The 2nd nomination stated “Pat was on call much of the time during my wife's stay and she was more than fantastic…right down to the end. She explained everything that was happening with my wife and did so in such a comforting way.”
Ms. Hill has been with Good Shepherd Hospice for more than 6.5 years and Ms. Mocko joined the team at the Good Shepherd Hospice Inpatient Center in 2008.
