Fascinating Photo Exhibition Created By Differently-abled Individuals

John Mitty Friday, January 18, 2013

OLD BETHPAGE, NY (JANUARY 17, 2013) – Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE), a not-for-profit agency that supports more than 3,500 individuals with different abilities on Long Island, is presenting a very unique exhibition of fine art photography created by individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities entitled Fantastic Florals.

The stunning images, captured by members of FREE’s “Shooting Stars” photography club, will be on view through January 31 at Half Hollow Hills Community Library, 55 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills, NY.  For further information, please call FREE at (516) 870-1818/1621 or contact the Library at (631) 421-4530.

The artists featured in the exhibit delved deep into their personal world of aesthetic perception, sharing their sensitivity and individual creative expressions through the camera lens.  Fantastic Florals depicts a variety of beautiful flowers and colors designed to engage visitors to connect with their own feelings of beauty and sensitivity.

“Much has been written and said about the awesome power of imagery for healing and communication, particularly for individuals who find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings through spoken words alone,” remarked Robert S. Budd, Chief Executive Officer for

FREE.  “The images on view are a testament to this power, as our artists have focused on and touched feelings of safety, trust, understanding and love, creating an opportunity to send their message out into our world, as they eagerly await our response.”
