ELIH Ambulatory Care to Host Ribbon Cutting

Eastern Long Island Hospital is pleased to celebrate the opening of the new Ambulatory Care Pavilion (ACP) with a ribbon cutting on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 1 pm.  All are welcome to join in the festivities which will include representation from the Board of Trustees, the ELIH Foundation, the ELIH Medical Staff, the ELIH Auxiliary, key staff and the local community.

The new Ambulatory Care Pavilion includes nine pre-op and post-op surgical bays, wall mounted digital TV’s, private locker rooms, an extended nurses station with a spacious reception and waiting area with views of beautiful Stirling Harbor.  The interior design is light and airy allowing for greater efficiency and patient comfort. With over 4,500 square feet of space, the ACP is one of the largest expansions in the hospital’s 107 year history.

Today, 85% of all surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis due to growing technological advances resulting in less invasive procedures and quicker healing times.  Ambulatory surgery visits currently exceed 5,000 annually, a steady increase of 240% within a five year period.

“The ablility to accommodate the growing demand is very exciting for both patients and staff,” states D. Patricia Pispisa, Vice President Patient Care Servcies.

Ambulatory surgery allows you to have elective surgery, spend minimal time recovering at the hospital and then continue recovering in the comfort of your own home, all in the same day.

“The goal of the new Ambulatory Care Pavilion at Eastern Long Island Hospital is to ensure that each patient receives the highest level of personal care and patient satisfaction,” states Deborah Boesch-O'Toole RN, CNOR, Manager Perioperative Services.

Multi-specialty surgical procedures are performed daily, Monday through Friday, in the ACP along with blood transfusions, pain interventions and colonoscopies. Key surgical services provided at Eastern Long Island Hospital include general surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, GI services, urology services, otolaryngology and ophthalmology.  The Ambulatory Care Pavilion can be accessed from Manor Place, opposite Atlantic Avenue, next to the red building.   Dedicated parking is available.
