Ben’s Holiday Catering Helps Jewish Families Keep Traditions during Rosh Hashanah

Dinner Packages Provide Convenience to Those Who Are Unable to Prepare Large Meals for Extended Families during the Holidays

In celebration of Rosh HashanahBen’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers is offering holiday dinner catering to its customers on Long Island; as well as in Queens, Manhattan and Westchester County, New York; Essex County, New Jersey; and Boca Raton, Florida.

Ben’s offers a catering package that is ideal for customers who wish to uphold the tradition of family gatherings around holiday meals. When eastern European Jewish immigrants came to the United States between the early 1900s and the 1940s, they brought this tradition along.

Today, more families have working parents, neither of whom has the time to prepare such large meals for an extended group of relatives. Catering is also convenient for the growing population of senior citizens; as people age, it becomes more difficult for them to cook and entertain a large group of family members.

As a result, more people are turning to Kosher caterers at Rosh Hashanah, which help families keep the tradition alive and provide an added convenience for those who are unable to prepare these holiday dinners themselves, whether due to hectic work schedules or physical limitations. Ben’s provides an authentic holiday meal that its non-Kosher counterparts cannot adequately offer.

Ben’s holiday menu includes many Kosher favorites such as mini-stuffed cabbage, gefilte fish, chicken noodle soup with matzo balls, roasted chicken or turkey, sliced brisket, cranberry-pineapple compote and carrot tsimmes. Each order includes a round challah unique to this holiday. Ben’s own fresh-baked Rugalach provides a sweet conclusion to the feast, though traditional sponge and honey cakes may also be ordered.

“There was a time when, after the synagogue and the local Jewish community center, the Kosher delicatessen was a meeting place for many Jewish families. They would see each other there during the week when they were either dining or taking food home,” said Ronnie Dragoon, Owner-Founder of Ben’s. “Today, the holiday meals take on added importance, as many offspring of the immigrants — first- and second-generation Jewish Americans — have moved to other parts of the United States and are farther away from family. Many come back together at Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.”

For Rosh Hashanah, Ben’s will be closing on Sunday, September 16 at 4 p.m. and will reopen Wednesday, September 19. During Yom Kippur, Ben’s will close on September 25 at 4 p.m. and open again on September 27.
