Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, Inc. Opens Lois and Edward Zeidler Memorial Alzheimer's Disease Research Library

On March 21, The Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) opened the Lois and Edward Zeidler Memorial Alzheimer’s Disease Research Library to the public at its Bay Shore headquarters.  The new space, which houses resource materials on everything from early onset Alzheimer’s Disease to senior companion programs, has already been getting quite a bit of use from interns, students, caregivers, and social workers.

The library was a bequest from the estate of Lois and Edward Zeidler, as Mr. Zeidler suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and he and his family utilized services provided by the agency when their office was in Patchogue. The 16x18-foot room houses a wealth of books, pamphlets, and other resource materials that provide information about hospice care, adult programs, elder care and caregiver organizations, eating and weight loss associated with Alzheimer’s, and Alzheimer’s Disease treatment and prevention.

Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the ADRC, will soon have audiovisual equipment installed in the library, so that it may be used for caregiver training sessions in late spring or early summer of 2013.
