Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. Hosts Tea & Art Exhibit on June 19

Artwork Created by Patients Suffering with Alzheimer’s to be Displayed as Part of ADRC’s Art Expression Program

Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will host its Annual Tea and Art Exhibit at its newly renovated headquarters, located at 45 Park Ave. in Bay Shore.  The exhibit will take place Wednesday, June 19from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Approximately 250 families will be in attendance to see ADRC host this event for the first time in their own Serenity Garden. The exhibit is only open to the artists’ family members and longtime supporters of ADRC.

The tea and art exhibit will showcase the remarkable and creative efforts of the residents of 33 assisted living facilities located in the greater New York metropolitan area who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. These artists created the artwork between September 2012 and March 2013 as part of ADRC’s Art Expression Program, in which ADRC staff members worked with the staff members and residents at the facilities to bring their creative thoughts to life.  The artwork was then brought to ADRC, where it was then matted, and then be on display with a biography and photo of the artist.

In addition to the artwork that will be on display, high tea and desserts will be served for all of the guests to enjoy.  Paintings will be on display and available for sale, with all proceeds benefiting ADRC’s Art Expression Program. This program is funded in part by the Fay J. Linder Foundation and the New York State Department of Health.

Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center — which is headquartered in Bay Shore and has a satellite office in Southampton — is the only local Alzheimer’s Disease advocacy and educational facility whose mission is to provide hands-on support and services to families on Long Island and the New York metropolitan area.  ADRC works with family members, health care professionals and researchers to ensure quality health care and support to those impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease through care and consultation, information and referral, training, support groups, and caregiver safety products.

For more information, please contact Emery Mikel, ADRC’s Art Expression Program Coordinator, at (631) 580-5100, ext. 304.  For more information on ADRC please call Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, at (631) 820-8068 or email maryannrogona@adrcinc.org or visit www.adrcinc.org
