Kent Animal Shelter Partners with SATO Project of Puerto Rico to Rescue Dogs
Six Dogs Arriving on Tuesday, July 16, 2012 from Puerto Rico

Calverton, NY – Responding to a call for help from the director of The
SATO Project, a Puerto Rican dog rescue, Kent Animal Shelter Executive
Director Pamela Green agreed to accept six dogs, which will arrive at
the shelter on Tuesday, July 17.

“When I spoke with the Director of the SATO Project and heard about
Dead Dog Beach and what happens to these misfortunate animals, I knew
that we had to help,” said Pamela Green. “Like many other islands of
paradise, it’s no paradise for the strays. We can find these animals
loving homes, and they don’t have to suffer like that.”

This is Kent's first rescue in partnership with The SATO Project.

In addition to rescuing homeless dogs and cats in the Long Island-New
York Metro region, Kent Animal Shelter partners with a large network
of humane organizations to help animals from as far away as St. Croix
and the Turks & Caicos Islands, the high kills shelters of Los Angeles
and the American South, as well as the puppy mills of the Midwest.
Hundreds of dogs from near and far are adopted from Kent every year,
and the staff carefully places each dog.
